Director, Residential Accounting
Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, the Director of Residential Accounting will be responsible for oversight of all operational controllership activities including financial close for SunPower’s residential business segment, cost accounting, back-office accounting operations, financial systems governance, best practice procedures, special projects, M&As and post-merger integration.
Responsibilities:
Manage the close process for SunPower’s residential business segment to ensure timely and accurate financial information in accordance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
Design, track, report and continuously improve service level agreements for the back-office accounting operations
Support M&A function with alignment of accounting policies & post-merger integration
Work cross-functionally with business partners and other corporate functions such as legal, tax, supply chain on new business initiatives, new market entries and operations, and tax structures implementation to ensure optimal accounting outcomes
Partner with Tax and Legal in accounting for legal entity mergers and liquidations
Maintain internal control and best-practice financial accounting processes, including development of enterprise standards
Actively participate in the development of a global strategy for controllership
Work closely with business unit controllers and other functional leaders to identify and develop necessary controllership related tool
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and unwavering commitment; a proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will own, in partnership with the CFO, Corporate Controller, and Technical Accounting Controller the accounting operations for the enterprise.
Qualifications:
CPA and Big Four experience required
Minimum of 10 years of experience in public accounting and/or multinational corporation
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Excellent decision-making capabilities with thorough understanding of drivers impacting the business
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex matters with simplicity and clarity to non-experts across the company
Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to manage multi-location teams
Must have a customer service mind-set and a team player mentality
Must have a positive, strong, proactive work ethic
