Syft Technologies designs and manufactures unique, state-of-the-art direct mass spectrometry instrumentation for trace analysis markets throughout the world. Our world-leading SIFT-MS technique is the fastest and most precise gas analysis technology available, providing real-time analysis for companies such as Samsung, P&G, Ford, and other industry leaders.
Syft is hiring a Global Service & Support Engineer in Christchurch, New Zealand. In this multidisciplinary role, no day is the same! You will support customers around the globe, in various industries like Environmental, Semiconduction, LifeScience, Research, and more. In the Tier 2 support role, you help our Field Support to resolve technical challenges, as you work closely with our Operations and Product Development teams. You also help improve standard operating procedures, technical documentation, support processes and training material.
This role requires international travel, up to 25% to Asia, Europe and the USA. You will also work periodically on the after-hours support roster (on a rotation basis).
Key tasks for a Field Service Engineer can include:
- Diagnose and solve complex problems requiring in-depth system knowledge and understanding of operating principles.
- Act as a central escalation point for global teams, providing triage and second-tier support.
- Support FSEs, on-site if needed, to succeed in their work. This can include installations, repairs, maintenance and upgrades, as well as managing high caseloads.
- Consult with other engineering teams to solve complex technical issues.
- Document troubleshooting processes and technical findings to generate service reports.
- Help define guidelines and procedures to guarantee a high level of service and support.
- Ensure alignment to best practices by helping local teams to implement procedures and processes.
This role includes a mixture of both hands-on technical work, alongside a high degree of analytical thinking and problem-solving. This role requires you to have an interest in chemistry and to be able to understand each customer’s case and the technical make-up of the instrument.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- A degree in Engineering or Science.
- Extensive previous experience as a Service/Support/Systems/Maintenance/Installation Engineer in a highly regulated technical environment.
- Experience or affiliation with related technologies or applications, including semiconductors, medical devices, scientific instrumentation or mass-spectrometry.
- Excellent people, communication and organizational skills, with a focus on customer success.
- A can-do-will-do attitude and an eagerness to learn.
- The ability to work through complex problems under pressure.
