Symbio Hiring for Lead Software Engineer – Data Warehouse Job at Sydney, Australia Full Time

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to to join the Data Warehouse team in Sydney. This role requires a mixture of hands-on technical and strategic work. You will provide technical leadership to support your team in developing across the entire Data Warehouse echo system. As a leader, your role encompasses improving engineering practices, coaching and uplifting our agile processes and providing people leadership to a team of 7 Engineers.

What you’ll do as a Lead Engineer:

• Own the end to end delivery of technical solutions deployed by your team
• Drive technical decisions and direction within your team
• Manage key stakeholder relationships in Technology and the wider business
• Lead the team to continually improve engineering practices within Symbio

What you’ll need to succeed:

• Proven experience with data warehouse techniques, including modelling and ETL (3-5 years).
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and data warehouse testing techniques
• Strong experience with SQL, NoSQL and other data repositories (e.g. S3)
• Good knowledge of cloud platforms, ideally AWS (ideally Glue, Athena and Redshift)
• Demonstrated experience working with an agile framework (e,g, Scrum, Kanban) and particularly leading agile teams
• Experience with Java or Python (or other similar languages) would be preferred
• Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor engineers within the team, with experience leading development teams of 5+ developers.
• A sense of ownership of technical projects and improvement of engineering practices
• Great communication skills with ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• You are a person who continually self learns and improves your technical skillsets
• Degree in Computer Science is desirable
• You are curious, tenacious, creative, and a great team player
