JOB SUMMARYIn addition to carrying out the duties of a Mechanic A or B position, the Maintenance Group Leader is responsible for planning, scheduling, directing, and the work efforts of the Maintenance Mechanics assigned on shift. Also responsible for directing team members and issuing daily work assignments to meet production needs and as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor. This position will also be required to arrange coverage for or perform the duties of their Mechanics in their absence. The position needs to communicate with the group leaders on the off-going and oncoming shifts to relay all relevant information about equipment/job. status.RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform all mechanical duties while also directing, coordinating and monitoring the daily activities & performance of maintenance mechanics on the team to assure compliance of standard procedures, quality, and safety.
Manage employee performance through motivation, delegation, development, mentoring and resolving conflict.
Conduct regular department shift change meetings to foster employee engagement, communicate any changes to company policies and procedures, address employee concerns, foster idea-sharing and suggestions for improvement.
Participate in staff selection, performance and compensation evaluations, corrective action and terminations, as necessary.
Provide & maintain a safe working environment. Provide monthly safety training, conduct associate observations, to help update preferred work methods, conduct accident investigations to determine root causes and routine safety inspections.
Evaluate & prioritize work assignments to accommodate current business demands.
Provide & implement strategic plans to meet daily requirements and minimize or eliminate downtime.
Manage labor hours including extra work days.
Manage, assign and monitor all department projects for quality and timely completion.
Conduct regular audits to ensure all required inspections and documentation are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Ensure monthly Line Equipment Preventative Maintenance (PM) assigned to the team is completed.
Write work orders and parts requisitions for any repairs discovered during the line PM that were not remedied during the PM.
Communicate with group leaders and supervisors from all other departments to ensure all company production goals are being achieved.
Evaluate & interpret business demand.
Prioritize and distribute daily work assignments.
Provide proper staffing
Manage departmental expenses.
Manage subordinates compensation
Manage the proper selection, purchase, and utilization of Company assets.
QUALIFICATIONSEducation
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED), or trade school
New Jersey Low Pressure (or higher) Boiler License a Plus
Experience
5 Years Maintenance experience preferable in a Packaging Environment.
1 Year leadership experience or training a plus

Physical Demands
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands and fingers to operate hand and power tools, computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone to talk and hear.
Frequently required to reach with hands and arms and climb or balance.
Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and lift up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
While this position will primarily work in a manufacturing environment, this position will require travel.
There is typically overnight travel and specifically pertains to company events, off-site Machine testing, staff meetings, training sessions & vendor fairs.
May be required to utilize personal vehicles for business travel that may result in long periods of sitting.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
This position may require evening and weekend work depending on business needs.
This position is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, elevated ambient temperature, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, heights and outside weather conditions.
