The Packer position is responsible for the packaging of a manufactured dust product. The Packer position is a support role for several areas of manufacturing. Operate machines to prepare industrial products for storage or shipment.

COMP: $16/hr

Requirements

• High School education or equivalent is preferred.
• Understand and follow basic verbal and written instructions.
• Effectively communicate information and respond to questions from various levels within the organization.
• Possess basic mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• Perform basic visual quality inspections on products.
• Maintain the production pace of other team members.
  Utilize power tools and various equipment as needed to perform duties.
• Must be certified or become certified in operation of forklift.

Core Accountabilities

• Sort, grade, weigh, and inspect products, verifying and adjusting product weight or measurement to meet specifications.
• Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards.
• Monitor the production line, watching for problems such as pile-ups, jams, or glue that isn’t sticking properly.
• Attach identification labels to finished packaged items, or cut stencils and stencil information on containers, such as lot numbers or shipping destinations.
• Stock and sort product for packaging or filling machine operation, and replenish packaging supplies, such as wrapping paper, plastic sheet, boxes, cartons, glue, ink, or labels.
• Package the product in the form in which it will be sent out
• Inspect and remove defective products and packaging material.
• Perform production duties such as manual lifting, packaging, taping, labeling operations and sorting.
• Move product and inventory using a forklift and bin system.
• Perform related duties as required by supervision.

Environment:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to extreme heat.
• The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and fumes and/or airborne particles.
• The noise level in the workplace is generally loud.
