Job Description

An exciting opportunity within the Nelson site has become available for a General Hand within the Cool store. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a ‘can-do’ attitude who can adapt to a changing work schedule. The primary focus of this role is to get stuck in and assist with the day-to-day cool store operations for local and export markets for Talley’s Nelson. On an hourly rate, the typical working week will be from Monday to Friday with the occasional weekend when the vessels return from sea.

• Load containers ready for shipment
• Create orders as required for the sales team.
• Moving product and consolidating different product lines together to meet deadlines.
• Stock taking stock and allocating areas for certain product lines.
• Product management: reboxing, strapping, and maintaining cold temperatures.
• Assist vessel crew and wharf staff with the unloading of vessels during turnarounds.

Qualifications

• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• An adaptable individual who can manage varying workloads.
• Good time management where interruptions and unexpected events are the norm.
• Excellent written and oral communication
• Physically fit
• Strong work ethic

A forklift license and first aid certificate are desirable but not essential.
