Tauranga City Council has a permanent full-time position available in the CBD for an Environmental Monitoring Officer.
Our Environmental Monitoring team are part of the Environmental Planning Team with the Regulatory and Compliance group, and are responsible for providing high quality planning, monitoring, and responsive regulatory services. The Environmental Planning team is focused on supporting sustainable use, and the development of resources through the delivery of our city’s building developments, environments, and activities.
The purpose of the Environmental Monitoring Officer role at Tauranga City Council is to act as the primary point of contact for key stakeholders, customers, and the community. The Environmental Monitoring Officer is a pivotal role within the Environmental Planning team. This role is multi-faceted and provides a high level of compliance, monitoring, and enforcement under the Resource Management Act, with our team’s focus being on Land Use and Subdivision consent monitoring, and City Plan compliance. Sediment and erosion control monitoring forms a crucial part of this role, as does incident response regarding the investigation of potential breaches of the City Plan or consent conditions. We do this by conducting site visits and checks against the City Plan and/or consent conditions, as well as desktop investigations.
