The Environment Team has an exciting future with the adoption of Tauranga Taurikura – Environmental Strategy and with the Nature and Biodiversity Action Plan. These documents give strong environment guidance for Tauranga City. This is the opportunity to help shape the interface between our built and natural environment for the wellbeing of our community.

As a Natural Environment Advisor within the Environment Team, you’ll be project managing and overseeing environmental projects across the aquatic and terrestrial reserve networks, including some weekend work. You’ll also be providing a technical and professional advisory service in the management of the city’s extensive passive reserve network, revegetation areas, special ecological areas. The role requires the ability to effectively manage a number of stakeholder relationships as well as plan and deliver on actions identified in the City’s Long Term Plan.

Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring;

• Tertiary level qualification in Environmental Science, Ecology or similar
• 3+ years experience in an environmental project management role
• Experience in large scale biodiversity restoration, (Urban settings desirable)
• Proven ability to show initiative and generate activity to achieve results
• High level communication and interpersonal skills
