We are seeking a Programme Leader – Mauri to join our team!
Reporting to the General Manager – Strategy & Environment you will have a unique opportunity to lead the strategic direction and operational management of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu in the areas of sustainability, the natural environment, and upholding mana whenua kaitiakitanga.
Reporting to the General Manager Strategy and Environment, you will be responsible for leading a high performing team of Senior Planners and Advisors. This will include managing staff performance, professional development and reviewing and improving systems and processes, to ensure team members have the support and flexibility they need to thrive.
A critical function of the role is to provide oversight and delivery of the planning work programme. This will involve supporting a team of subject matter experts to provide advice on a wide range of local government statutory and non-statutory planning and policy frameworks, conservation management, climate change, national proposals, and External Tribal representation on Conservation Boards and Taonga Species groups. It will also include protecting and building on the environmental provisions of the Ngāi Tahu Claims Settlement Act 1998.
The role will involve working closely with and supporting Papatipu Rūnanga and their Regional Environmental Entities. Maintaining effective working relationships with Councils, government agencies and a range of stakeholders will also be important.
