Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu currently seeks to appoint an experienced researcher to join the Ngāi Tahu Archive team.

This role offers a unique opportunity to support the Ngāi Tahu Archive team in their work with Ngāi Tahu whānau, hapū and Papatipu Rūnanga on initiatives to collate and record Ngāi Tahu knowledge for present and future Ngāi Tahu generations. A large part of the role will involve image research for Ngāi Tahu publications, the writing of short biographies of Ngāi Tahu tupuna, and the preparation of content for the Kareao and Kā Huru Manu websites. Other research will include work with Papatipu Rūnanga on heritage interpretation projects and the fulfilment of research requirements that arise from time to time through Te Pae Korako (the Ngāi Tahu Archive Advisory Committee) and wider Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Require

• Previous experience in a research role working with historical or cultural information.
• Experience preparing written reports, papers, articles, and website content.
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

The successful applicant will have a strong affinity for the needs and aspirations of our ultimate stakeholders, Ngāi Tahu whānui. Alongside this, they will have an understanding, or have an eagerness to, learn and engage with Ngāi Tahu values and te reo Māori. Ka tika!
