Head of Learning and Development

Teamworx are delighted to be recruiting the post of Head of Learning and Development for our clients organisation which is Irelands largest retail industry representative body with over 2,000 members. Our client champion, support and grow Irish retail across all channels. Promoting excellence comparable to the best in the world.

We are seeking a Head of Learning and Development to grow our product offering, maximise income and support retailers to develop their people across all levels.

Person attributes

• At least 5 years’ experience working in a learning and development role from a retail or hospitality background
• An understanding of the development needs of retailers at all levels from entry level sales assistant through to senior leadership teams
• An excellent networker capable of promoting Retail Excellence and being an ambassador for the industry
• Good understanding of E-learning and learning management systems
• Capable of working as part of a small team and being flexible according to changing needs
• Adaptable and able to respond quickly to the changing needs of retail
• An excellent communicator passionate about people and people development.
• A willingness to talk to the media and to be involved in broader aspects of the running of the business. (note, this is not vital)

Role and responsibilities

• Responsible for the control and development of the Management Development Programme.
• Work with the Managing Director to redesign the content of the programme bringing it up to date for a post covid world.
• Maximise the income stream and drive attendance working with the Head of Marketing and Head of Commercial.
• Develop a Learning Management System that is made available to members as an addition to their membership fee. Begin with a suite of compliance courses in place by Q2
• Source and work with a preferred vendor to develop the Retail Excellence LMS offer
• Develop the Retail Excellence Leadership Programme aimed at senior leaders. Source and work with multiple vendors to put the programme in place starting with a pilot programme by the summer of 2022. Focus the programme on the skills needed to succeed in a rapidly changing retail world especially emotional intelligence and leading self.
• Develop the Retail Excellence Coaching Programme aimed at supporting retailers in leadership roles. Source a cadre of quality coaches with a knowledge of the industry. Develop a business case for this programme and take it to market.
• Network with members, partners and other stakeholders and understand how best to position our learning offering to give the best value
• Be an integral part of the HR group linking in with HR and L&D professionals across the industry.
• Track the development of programme delegates and build a relationship with them and the organisations they work with.
• Support in the delivery of set piece events such as the Retail Excellence Awards and Retail Excellence Retreat.
• Develop a relationship with speaker agencies and be aware of emerging talented speakers across subjects related to retail
• Be comfortable working to a budget and maximising the return on the investment of programmes and events.
