Roofing TechnicianSUMMARY: The Roofing Technician is responsible for performing tasks involving physical labor at construction projectsand demolition sites. May operate hand and power tools of all types: surveying and measuring equipment and a varietyof other equipment and instruments. May clean and prepare sites, erect scaffolding and clean up rubble and debris.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• Loads, unloads or identifies building materials, machinery or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations,according to project plans or specifications.• Reads plans, instructions, or specifications to determine work activities.• Sets up ladders to provide safe access to roofs.• Cements or nails flashing strips of metal or shingle over joints to make them watertight.• Cuts felt, shingles, and strips of flashing; and fit them into angles formed by walls, vents, and intersecting roofsurfaces.• Installs partially overlapping layers of material over roof insulation surfaces, determining distance of roofingmaterial overlap using chalk lines, gauges on shingling hatchets, or lines on shingles.• Cuts roofing paper to size using knives; and nails or staples roofing paper to roofs in overlapping strips to formbases for other materials.• Abides by all Company safety procedures including wearing all required PPE• Cleans work areas, machines, and equipment, to maintain a clean and safe jobsite.• Ensures at the end of the day that all equipment and materials are secure to prevent damage or risk of loss;trash is picked up and disposed of properly; job site is thoroughly cleaned up and free of debris and 100%weather tight; ladders and equipment are properly stowed and put away.• Performs all other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
