Associate Linguist (Brazilian Portuguese)
Location: Dublin, Ireland
*Relocation package is provided if you are based outside of Ireland*

TELUS International is currently seeking a Portuguese language specialist for a linguistic role in the field of technology.

Responsibilities:
⦁ Annotation
⦁ Creating grammar rules
⦁ Formulating language templates
⦁ Finding patterns
⦁ Evaluating existing data

Requirements:
⦁ Must have a native level of fluency in Brazilian Portuguese.
⦁ Must have a comprehensive understanding of the formal aspects of Brazilian Portuguese (e.g. grammar, parts of speech, formal/casual/dialects)
⦁ The ideal candidate will have a higher education (MA or MsC) or a formal linguistic education.
⦁ Must be eligible to work in Ireland.
⦁ Knowledge/awareness of linguistic terms and concepts
⦁ Working knowledge of complex tools, e.g. CMS, SQL, Advanced Excel/Sheets
⦁ Some knowledge of programming/coding (e.g. HTML, R, regular expressions)
⦁ Good understanding and interest in the current technology landscape: IT & computing, AI, machine learning, voice assistants, internet of things
⦁ Experience in testing, data processing, database management.

Skills:
⦁ Grasping technical concepts and learning new tools
⦁ Excellent attention to detail
⦁ Ability to work independently with confidence and little oversight
⦁ Excellent oral and written communication skills

Extra points for:
⦁ Experience using NLP tools and concepts
⦁ Experience in annotation work
⦁ Knowledge of formal linguistics
