About Us: Terra Archaeology Limited (Terra) provides professional archaeological consulting services throughout British Columbia. Our work is conducted at the request of First Nations, federal and provincial government agencies and ministries, private sector corporations, and private land owners.
About the Position: Terra is seeking a highly flexible and organized individual to join our Administration team in a full-time capacity at our Victoria Office. Our hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: General maintenance of office services, as well as general office duties, such as receive and process mail, file documents, organize courier pickup, maintain the office phone system, maintain client contact lists, and issue and track office keys. Some knowledge of accounts payable/receivable processes is an asset as the administrator often processes supplier invoices and pre-payments and performs bank deposits. Terra’s Support Operations team is also responsible for supporting Terra’s archaeological staff, especially during the field season, and the successful candidate will assist with arranging travel and logistics for field crews, and other field-season related tasks. Duties associated with this position will be related primarily to the Support Operations team, though a high level of flexibility is necessary as the successful candidate will be expected to assist their colleagues in other departments, such as Documents Production, Safety, or Bookkeeping on an as-needed basis.
Special Attributes: The successful candidate will have strong leadership and organizational abilities, as well as the ability to work independently and anticipate what might be required of them before they are asked. Time management proficiency and the ability to multitask are essential to this position, as is a keen eye for detail. The successful candidate will benefit from the ability to quickly adjust to changing deadlines, project requirements, and technology. A general knowledge of local and provincial geography is preferred for this position.
Education Requirements and Skills: High school diploma or GED required, post-secondary degree in Business or related field is preferred. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat is required.
Important Notes: Administrators must always conduct themselves in a professional and politically sensitive manner, both when in the office, and when acting as a representative for Terra Archaeology. Confidentiality, diplomacy, and tact are critical traits in this position. Must be self-motivated, fast learner, and someone is accountable for their own work and takes ownership of the position.
