The job:

Following a structured training plan, you will work under the supervision of our qualified Heavy Diesel Technicians as you complete the New Zealand Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering Level 4. Initial duties include pre-start checks, health and safety tasks, contamination control and administration. As you learn and grow you will take on servicing, preventative maintenance, diagnostics and repair work.

At the conclusion of your apprenticeship, you will be recognised as a qualified Caterpillar Heavy Diesel Technician in a growth industry experiencing a significant skill shortage.

Minimum requirements:

• You must be either a NZ citizen or permanent resident.
• Have a minimum of 4 years secondary schooling with NCEA Level 2
• Have completed or be completing an automotive pre-trade course OR have a minimum of 2 years full time work experience in a related field.
• Hold your full Driver’s Licence or have the ability to do so by January 2023.

Our Apprenticeship Programme commences in mid-January with a 2-week induction programme in Christchurch. From here you will return to your local branch where you will work alongside our highly skilled technicians on a variety of jobs and a wide range of equipment, all whilst using the latest technology.
