We are a small, growing company looking for a committed Tiler’s Assistant who wants to build a career in the civil construction industry. We will provide training to the right person and apprenticeship through BCITO.

Job location/region: Greater Auckland

Number of positions for this job: 3 positions available

Employment type: Permanent, Full-time

Days required: Monday to Friday. May occasionally be required to work on the weekends.

Hours per week: Minimum of 30 hours per week guaranteed.

Hourly rate band: from $25.00 to $27.76 NZD per hour depending on experience

Job Description:

●    Assisting qualified Tilers

●    Carrying out tasks such as preparing the job site and preparing the surface under the supervision of a qualified tiler

●    Loading and unloading construction materials, tools, and equipment

●    Managing on-site materials

●    Assisting with mixing, pouring, and spreading of self-levelling screed, grout, sealant, and inserting spaces

●    Assisting with the application of waterproofing systems

●    Assisting with spreading adhesive onto prepared surfaces and tiles, and setting tiles into position under the supervision of a qualified tiler

●    Assisting with laying wall and floor tiles, cutting, and shaping tiles to the specifications under the supervision of a qualified tiler

●    Cleaning job site once the work is done and cleaning tools

●    May be required to travel to other locations in the North Island occasionally.

Job prerequisites:

●    Experience in construction, including general labouring, would be an advantage (not a must)

●    Willingness to learn

●    Flexibility & ability to work extra hours when required

●    Clean police records and ability to pass the drug test

●    Full Driver’s License & reliable transport

●    Be confident working autonomously, and Health & Safety conscious

●    Good communication skills and presentable appearance

●    Strong work ethic and a positive can-do attitude

●    Open work permit in New Zealand
