Job Description
The Curriculum Manager will be responsible for day-to-day management and oversight of the curriculum development team, including distributing project assignments and working with ESTI’s operational program managers to establishing timelines and budgets for project completion. You will also conduct curriculum team meetings, provide weekly reporting on project progress, and oversee the course translation process. The position will maintain an operational understanding and expertise in all areas of curriculum design and development and serve as the division representative for both intellectual property issues and curriculum-related committee assignments. This position reports to the Program Director for Curriculum, Certification, and Evaluation.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university (Equivalency: Will consider an Associate’s degree with seven years or a High School Diploma/GED with nine years of related experience in project management, curriculum development, and training to include at least two years of related supervisory experience).
Five years of related experience in project management, curriculum development, and training including at least two years of related supervisory experience
Required Licenses/Certifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Education Technology, Training Development, Instructional Design or closely related field
Curriculum design and development experience including the use of applicable software programs
Seven or more years of experience in Curriculum Development, Organizational Education, Instructional Technology, or a similar field., including responsibility for project management and operational budgets for face-to-face and online curriculum
Three or more years of experience developing e-learning projects
Experience designing curriculum for adult learners and developing e-learning curricula (e-publications, online courses, e-books etc.)
Physical Requirements:
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
Extended use of a computer/keyboard, standard office equipment
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. of occasional boxes of printed materials and/or office supplies with assistance
Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving and/or flying on commercial airlines
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to develop, implement, and maintain program plans
Ability to manage projects and staff within predetermined timelines and budgets
Knowledge of applicable software utilized in curriculum development and excellent computer skills including spreadsheet and word processing software
Knowledge of BLOOMS, instructional design models, adult learning principles, and graphic design
Ability to work in office and design software programs including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Professional
Excellent small group facilitation and team building skills
Ability to transform strategic concepts into implementation
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

This position is security-sensitive.
This position may require up to 5% travel for project meetings or business development activities.
This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
This position regularly directs and evaluates the work of others.
This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TEEX regulations and procedures.
All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and Agency safety requirements.
Essential Duties, Tasks, and Percentages:
Manage day-to-day activities of the Curriculum Program – 50%:
Plans, prioritizes, and assigns approved projects to curriculum personnel as needed
Reviews status of projects on a weekly basis to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of projects/outcomes
Works with Program Director to develop and maintain processes and work flows that will accomplish the variety of projects assigned to the curriculum group
Develops and maintains project status summary reports and provide a weekly report to include budget information, estimated completion date and percentage complete
Plans, coordinates, and executes curriculum projects with team members including subject matter experts, curriculum staff, training managers (POC), and instructors to ensure project goals are met
Reports to Program Director when course development projects are delayed or stalled
Ensures compliance with copyright laws and TEEX policies and procedures
Ensures compliance with curriculum security requirements
Ensures course translation projects are completed on time and on budget
Collects and maintains appropriate data for future budgeting efforts
Attends required subcommittee and development meetings
Fiscal Responsibility – 30%:
Reviews time sheets, salary distribution for projects, travel, and invoices prior to submission
Submits requests to open and close projects and tasks within appropriate time frames to Business Office
Generates, reviews, and analyzes revenue and expense reports and provides summary briefings to the senior management team on a monthly basis
Follows established inventory control guidelines
Reports equipment needs to Program Director with justifications
Manages expenses and allocated resources
Provide supervision to assigned staff -20%:
Oversees work of curriculum staff to ensure content is current, objectives are covered, and activities follow adult learning principles
Supervises curriculum personnel to ensure the status of development projects is documented in the project management system to include time, effort, and progress
Ensures instructional design specialists, technical writers, and graphic designer develop courses to meet guidelines of Emergency Services Training Institute (ESTI) and TEEX
Addresses employee concerns and complete personnel-related items (e.g., approvals, professional development, performance evaluation, disciplinary action)
Other Duties:
Performs additional work duties as assigned
As part of the TEEX’s mission of providing training, developing practical solutions, and saving lives; this position could be required, if called upon, to deploy within the State of Texas as directed by this position’s Division Director/ HQ Department Head.
