What we want
The Avian Program Aide contributes to avian health research program related to avian exposure to pesticides, bird-tick interactions, and more. Major responsibilities include: mist-netting and banding birds; representing TAMU to the Nature Conservancy partners; blood sampling of birds; data collection; and data entry. Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in wildlife, biology, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Five years of experience working with wild birds in the field, which includes two years of experience at a banding station.

Responsibilities:
Extraction and Processing – Sets up and takes down mist-nets for safe avian capture. Extracts and processes wild birds.
Data Collection – Performs bird banding, measurements, and blood collection. Enters data into field notebook, excel spreadsheets, and band manager program. Reports data to graduate student and PI.
Partnerships – Represents TAMU to the Nature Conservancy partners. Performs other duties as assigned.
