Job Summary
The Kitchen Assistant assists with the preparation and service of food for the students, faculty and staff of the school; and assists with the maintenance of the kitchen. May include tasks such as:
· General food service activities including but not limited to; food prep, cooking, set up, serving and cleanup.
· Putting away orders
· General cleanup of kitchen
· Serve student and staff during lunch service.
· Wash trays and dishes
· Tentative Schedule 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. weekdays based on annual school schedule.
Primary Responsibilities
· Check menus and help with food orders
· Pre-heat cooking equipment as needed
· Stock coolers and deli-case with beverages, pre-prepared foods, and items requiring refrigeration
· Prepare and set out breakfast foods
· Prepare daily hot entrees for Lower and Middle school
· Store food in warmers and perform temperature checks
· Prepare pre-ordered sandwiches and salads
· Prepare food for the bistro sandwich and salad station
· Serve food during lunch service hours
· Cool and store left-over foods
· Shut down cooking equipment
· Clean trays, dishes, towels and any equipment used in the preparation and service of food
· Any other tasks the kitchen manager needs done
Job Requirements
· Food Handling permit (required within 30 days of employment)
· Basic First Aid card (within 30 days)
· Valid Washington State Driver’s License with good driving record
· Ability to lift 30 lbs. repeatedly
· Currently held CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (with Epinephrine Auto Injector supplement included), or arrangements made to obtain certification within 90 days of employment start date.
· Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer. No sponsorship is available for this position
