Job Descriptions:The Blake School seeks a Middle School Substitute Coordinator and Reserve Teacher. The primary responsibility for this position is coordinating substitute coverage for faculty absences and serving as the primary reserve teacher. This individual will supervise the daily recess blocks. The Middle School Director and Middle School Assistant Director will jointly supervise this position. Blake is particularly interested in candidates who will enrich the diversity of identity, lived experience and thinking that makes our community strong and empowers students to engage across differences.      Required Experience:Coordinate coverage for all faculty absences Serve as the primary contact for teachers who will need coverage Gather sub plans and supplementary materials and/or handouts, including necessary technologyReview sub plans and seek clarity if instructions are not clear and easy to followOrganize a sub folder system, which contains class rosters and a copy of the master scheduleRecord substitute coverage in the Substitutes Needed List in VeracrossShare lesson plan information with subs and set them up for success Oversee time card process and submit to the Business Office so internal substitutes get paidServe as the primary reserve teacherMaintain a robust pool of external substitute teachers Read application materials for potential reserve teachersConduct interviews and make hiring recommendations to the MS Director Provide an initial orientation for new hires and ongoing support as they transition into the roleOversee time card process and submit to the Business Office so external substitutes get paidSupervise daily recess Provide a variety of options for recess equipment and work with the MS Director to replenishSet out equipment at the start of recess and stow it away at the end Watch over students and remind them of expectations for safe playKeyword: Substitute CoordinatorFrom: The Blake School
