Nature of Work
This position performs cleaning and general maintenance duties of public transit stops and shelters. Responsibilities include general custodial duties, weed control, performing minor maintenance and upkeep of stops and shelters to ensure a clean and safe environment for customers. This role will work primarily in the field and will perform work independently.
The 2024 starting rate of pay is $23.20 per hour with advancement to $30.11 per hour.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform general custodial duties*
Clean bus stops and shelters, including interior and exterior walls, ground and removal of graffiti
Pick up litter and other debris in and around stops and shelters. Empty trash cans.
Ensure transit stops are properly maintained, clean and safe*
Update communication materials posted throughout the transit system including bus stops, shelters, transit center, and skyway.
Place and remove temporary bus stop signs.
Perform weed control, including pull weeds and ensure a clear pathway for accessibility to transit stops and shelters.
Performs minor repair functions.
Respond to calls for service in a timely manner.
Report any areas in need of repair whether they be concrete, asphalt, fence, building, or landscaped areas.
Remove snow at bus stops, inside shelters, and walkways to the bus stops and shelters.
Perform other duties as assigned or necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or the equivalent
Licenses and Certifications
Valid Minnesota driver’s license.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience performing custodial work.

Knowledge of: custodial and maintenance practices, supplies, and equipment
Skill in: use of custodial tools, materials, supplies and equipment.
Ability to: follow cleaning schedules; communicate effectively; set priorities and to be flexible, and to work independently, steadily, efficiently, and accurately even at routine or repetitive tasks; work pleasantly, tactfully, and effectively with co-workers and the public; understand and effectively carry out oral or written assignments and instructions.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CRITERIA

In consideration of the overall amount of physical effort required to perform this position, the work is best described as Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical demands that may be required continuously (2/3 or more of the time), frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time), and occasionally (up to 1/3 of the time) are noted below:
Continuous demands: walking and standing.
Frequent demands: pushing/pulling; lifting; carrying; reaching; bending; twisting; and handling.
Occasional demands: fine dexterity; crouching; climbing; balancing; kneeling; crawling; and foot controls.
Sensory requirements necessary in the performance of the essential functions of this position include: sight, hearing, and touch.
Environmental conditions that may exist in the performance of the essential functions of this job include:
