Essential Functions:
Evaluate opportunities, prepare proposals, lead and execute Productivity Initiatives (PI) and improvement projects related to packaging materials and processes.
Troubleshoot quality and performance issues related to packaging process and materials, organize and evaluate process data for trends and opportunities.
Identify continuous improvement areas for introducing packaging solutions and alternatives aimed to enhance the performance of our products and reduce the cost whenever possible complying with regulatory requirements, environmental, and Company needs.
Maintain quality records and provide system disposition regarding packaging material testing.
Provide timely assessment to operational areas on the use and storage of packaging items. Effectively communicate to QA, Purchasing, Operations and Customer Service about issues and complaints related to packaging materials
Provide support on technical matters in the field of packaging to the North America plants and the rest of the CPS plants if required.
Support the identification, development, and qualification of new Packaging suppliers for the North Americas plants following existing quality protocols.
Support the packaging supplier’s audit process throughout North America following existing audit protocols. Perform follow up visit as required according to TCCC audit guidelines.
Manage and coordinate packaging material compatibility testing according to the Packaging Quality Manual and Approved Packaging Databases. Support other plants with compatibility testing when necessary.
Coordinate materials compatibility including but not limited to package appearance evaluation, preparation, filling, and weight loss and submit samples to the Sensory Evaluation Program.
Perform new material testing including but not limited to specification compliance, strength, appearance, line performance testing, and stacking.
Support development, maintenance, and implementation of packaging material testing protocols monitor effectiveness and propose any required improvement.
Supports the evaluation for acquisition of new laboratory instrumentation and suitable standards as required.
Maintain and update the Approved Packaging Database and other designated Data Bases under the guidelines established by Corporate Quality and R&D to establish a level of consistency in the usage of packaging materials.
Validate performance of all packages used within the North America plants always comply with the specifications including the applicable regulations issued by DOT, United Nations, and local regulatory agencies, including scheduling periodic re-certifications as required. Re-design rejected packages to assure performance compliance.
Evaluate packaging defects and complaints trends and delineate corrective and preventive action plans aligned with packaging suppliers’ input. Handle packaging quality issues at supplier level including communication, visits to facilities, technical reporting, and corrective action effectiveness and completion as scheduled.
Ensures the correct management of nonconforming materials including proper segregation and application of required labels to materials on inventory
Communicate supplier performance data and provide technical expertise during the packaging negotiation process.
Liaison with Corporate Packaging and participate as an active member of networked teams AND PROJECTS related to packaging across the system. Participate and promote activities with the OE Team that contribute toward continuous improvement (5’s, workplace audit, T Cards, Idea Cards, Big C, Tip Plan, Communication Center, etc.).
Comply with all Internal Control requirements in own department and CRI as applicable.
Participates in Problem Solving exercises and execute actions as planned.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in science or technology area. Engineering degree preferred.
Bilingual (English and Spanish)
Experience: One (1) to three (3) years in Packaging or Concentrate/Beverage Manufacturing plus experience in Project Management.
Experience in Quality Assurance and data analysis is preferred
