The Role

Your role will see you working within one of the most successful retail organisations in the country, building an understanding of the business of retail and turning this understanding into solutions that support our customers, staff, and partners throughout the product lifecycle of offering, selling, and fulfilling. Your primary focus will be understanding, analysing, designing and developing systems, then ensuring shared understanding around the design. However, you will be truly cross-functional, and you will be willing and able to contribute to any part of the delivery pipeline. Responsibilities:

• Take leadership and ownership of work and responsibility for getting it done
• Incorporate new Technology into the design where Necessary
• Develop a strong working understanding of The Good Guys business
• Work collaboratively within the team from inception to production, and inspire collaboration across teams and the wider business
• Implement design principles to ensure that all Application works well across multiple devices and environment including cloud
• Can independently review, modify and develop applications and features that we will expose to business via desktop, mobile and cloud
• Code, build and debug maintainable applications and identify risks and issues when making changes
• Take ownership and maintain our code repository through our source code management and assist in code review of applications/system according to company guidelines
• Maintain and create continuous development and continuous integration for our on-prem and cloud applications
• Create the design taking account of the priority of the work and the trade-offs between quality and delivery for the context – making sure the “just enough” standard is being applied
• Ensure shared understanding of the work being undertaken and help prepare a stable pipeline of work for the team
• Work across teams to ensure a coherent approach and identify improvement opportunities.
• Identify risks and issues as necessary and ensure they are raised
• Mentoring and guiding intermediate and junior developers within the team

Requirements:

• Experience in engaging stakeholders to understand their requirements and issues and providing effective integrated solution design for both of the parties
• Experience in Application Architecture and design patterns
• Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Experience in Architecting, designing, developing and maintaining integration solutions for Enterprise systems using Microsoft Azure Cloud Services
• Hands-on experience in Azure Cloud Services (PaaS & IaaS), APIM, Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Cosmos DB, Storage, Active Directory, Application Insights, Azure Monitoring, Key Vault
• Experience in development of distributed/scalable systems and high-volume transaction applications
• Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies
• Proficiency in troubleshooting software issues and debugging a large codebase
• Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision
• Outstanding all-round communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
