The Highlander is seeking a reporter.

We’re an independent newspaper based in Haliburton, in
Ontario’s cottage country. That means lakes, forests – and a vibrant community
full of stories we want to cover.

The Highlander has won first place in the OCNA’s General
Excellence category for its circulation in five of the past six years. We
believe that commercial success comes from having a strong editorial product:
it’s the main reason we have grown over the past decade. We have a track record
of training and inspiring journalists.

We’re open to full-time, part-time, contract and casual.

Qualifications

You’ll have journalism training and experience, including editing, and ideally know your way around InDesign. It would be beneficial to know about Haliburton County and understand the demands of reporting in cottage country.
