The King’s School, Canterbury is the oldest school in England, and today, one of the UK’s leading co-educational boarding and day schools, providing an outstanding, 21st century education to pupils ages 3-18.
With a new Head, Jude Lowson, joining in September 2023, King’s is entering a new chapter, and has ambitious targets to attract high-quality applicants to the school. We are looking to appoint a dynamic and experienced Director of Admissions to transform our approach to Admissions. This person will be involved at both a strategic and operational level, will act as a key ambassador for the school, and motivate and lead the Admissions staff across King’s. We are looking for a high calibre individual who brings energy, drive, and professionalism, alongside experience of managing teams and a strong understanding of admissions in the independent sector.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The school may carry out online searches on shortlisted applicants and all applicants will be required to provide details of their online profile, including social media accounts, as part of their application. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. The school is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions on a self-declaration form in advance of attending an interview (including those which are “spent” unless they are “protected” under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
