WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Tax Analyst will report to the Director of Tax Services and support
the Tax Services Manager and
Treasury Manager as needed. This position will sit within The Nature
Conservancy’s (TNC) Finance
Business Unit on the Tax Services team. Tax Services is a centralized
resource for TNC and its related
entities for tax research, planning and compliance. We are responsible
for updating and monitoring
policies and procedures for tax law compliance and the protection of
TNC’s tax exempt status. Our team
also prepares or reviews all TNC and related entity federal and state
income tax return prior to filing. This
is a hybrid role that will be based out of the Arlington, Virginia TNC
office.

The Tax Analyst will pull and analyze financial information from
internal financial reporting systems and
make information requests across the organization for the preparation of
TNC and related entity federal
and state tax returns. They will coordinate the filing and payment
process for tax returns under the
purview of the Finance Tax Services team. This position will be
responsible for keeping the tax
compliance calendar up to date. They will coordinate and organize
internal tax compliance surveys. They
may assist with the preparation of promissory note related compliance
filings.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE

Assists in the preparation tax return filings (e.g., Form 990, 990-T,
1120, 1065 and state returns) and other informational filings.

Coordinates the filing and payment process for tax returns.

Prepares and posts tax related journal entries.

Tracks internal tax compliance deadlines.

Responsible for maintaining organized electronic data filing system.

Documents and maintains tax preparation process manuals.

Manages tax mail correspondence.

Manages tax exemption renewals.

Monitors and coordinates timely internal responses to tax department
e-mail account questions.

Assists Business Unit personnel on tax-related matters as needed.

Coordinates, analyzes, and organizes internal domestic and international
tax compliance surveys.

Works in person in the Arlington office three days per week.
