The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) seeks a programme manager to influence education policy in the UK and Ireland.

The role:
The official title of this role is Programme Manager, Education Voice and Influence. In this role you will work with teams across the RSC, overseeing our programme to influence education policy. This includes dissemination to policymakers and other stakeholders, community engagement, the development of policy positions, and conducting research. The range of activity covers all stages of education from primary to undergraduate, including vocational and technical routes, in the UK and Ireland. You will lead a small team and will engage with other staff, contractors, partner organisations and external advisors, managing a budget of approximately £50k.
What we are looking for:
- A degree in chemistry or a related subject; or demonstrable understanding of chemistry that will support oversight of chemistry curriculum development to degree level.
- Knowledge and experience of education systems, policy and practise in the UK (an awareness of international education systems and policy is desirable).
- Experience in policy communications, able to effectively influence and pitch a message to an audience (verbally and in writing) and communicate complex ideas on various levels.
- Proven ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships, developing networks and creating opportunities with tact and diplomacy.
As an organisation we are embracing hybrid working, and homeworking/remote working within the UK could be considered for this role. Applicants should be aware that there is an expectation that employees will attend our Cambridge and London offices as needed for their role. This role will require travel throughout the UK and Ireland, calling with colleagues, meeting stakeholders and influencers, and attending events and may require occasional weekend and non-core working hours.
