Work Hours: A shift between 7:00am to 5:30pm and occasional weekends

JOB SUMMARY: The Case Worker will conduct intake and provide follow up of applicants
seeking financial assistance, assist with food distribution, provide community outreach services, and support social services activities based on contract commitments.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelors of Arts degree in a social service related field (e.g. counseling, psychology or social work) or a high school diploma with at least two years of extensive practical experience, a valid Hawaii Driver’s License, CPR training. Strong Microsoft Skills, especially Excel. The Case Worker must understand and support the work and the mission of The Salvation Army reflected in character, values and beliefs.
DUTIES:
1. Coordinate the operational processes and ensure case work is in compliance with
contract guidelines.
2. Conduct intake of financial aid applicants and determine eligibility.
3. Interview and assist homeless applicants to receive appropriate services.
4. Enter information in electronic data systems.
5. Create ledgers. Maintain records and assist in the timely preparation of reports.
6. Coordinate with landlords and vendors.
7. Actively participate in community outreaches.
8. Implement financial literacy sessions.
9. Refer clients to case managers, providers, community resources, including possible
rental units.
10. Maintain case files with privacy and confidentiality standards.
11. Conduct client follow-ups by phone or in person.
12. Distribute resources and information.
13. Purchase, sort and bag food for distribution, as needed.
14. Attend community resource meetings.
15. Respond to and assist walk-in and appointments for assistance.
16. Special tasks are assigned, as needed, throughout the year with most
Aloha – Empowerment – Community – Success Temporary assignments occurring between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
17. Perform other duties as assigned.

EQUIPMENT NEEDS:
Use office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, scanners, calculators, etc. Strong
Microsoft Word and Excel skills required.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Most work will be indoors at the Kauluwela Corps of The Salvation Army. On a regular basis,
community outreaches are scheduled which will require the use of sunscreen or sun protection as these may be periods of exposure under the sun. Attendance at trainings, both in Hawaii and on the mainland, is required.
