The Auckland Cancer Society Research Centre is part of the University of Auckland’s School of Medical Sciences. Our vision is to improve outcomes in cancer therapy. Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
‘Cancer in a Dish’ – creating personalised models of breast cancer using patient-derived organoids. We are looking for a research technician to provide key support in the establishment of a new biobank of breast tumour organoids. These will be derived from surgical specimens donated by New Zealand women recently diagnosed with breast cancer and will provide a clinically relevant platform to support scientific discovery. Technical support is needed for organoid generation, propagation, and characterisation as well as clinical annotation and database management. The technician also will support staff/students across a variety of research projects, including evaluating novel drug delivery systems, exploring the role of the tumour microenvironment on cancer behaviour, and identifying new cancer biomarkers. Key areas of technical expertise include aseptic tissue culture, in vitro cellular assays, and microscopy/imaging.
This is a Fulltime, 24 Month Fixed Term Contract. There may be potential for extension should additional funding become available.
Remuneration: $54,700-$68,200 negotiable on experience and qualifications
