Creative Arts and Industries (CAI) is a respected centre for creative research, teaching and practice at The University of Auckland. CAI offers undergraduate and postgraduate study of a wide range of creative disciplines within the Schools of Architecture and Planning (SoAP), Fine Arts and Design, Music and the Dance Studies Programme.
The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi
An outstanding Moving Image Technician is sought to provide technical support for the teaching, learning and research activities within the Faculty of Creative Arts and Industries based in the Elam school of Fine Arts.
The successful applicant will have a broad skill set in production and post-production workflows of digital and analogue formats (experience with 8mm/16mm film is desirable). On set experience is essential including working knowledge of rigging, production lighting, camera operation, and audio recording. Ability to setup and problem solve AV installations will be required on a regular basis including multiple monitor installs, multi channel audio setup’s and other digital/analogue equipment.
This is a full-time (37.5 hours), 11 month fixed term position.
The salary range for this role is between $54,700 – 68,200 based on experience and qualifications.

About you | He kōrero mōu
The candidate will be comfortable in a Mac environment and proficient using editing software including both Final Cut Pro X, and Adobe Premiere, as well as finishing tools such as After Effects and DaVinci Resolve. A working knowledge of music production including midi and analogue workflows would be advantageous as would familiarity with Apple Logic for both audio production and mixing. The successful applicant will also have good communication skills, be a team player, have a “can do” attitude and a passion for keeping up to date with the latest technologies.
The role requires a high commitment to Health and Safety and must obtain and maintain a current First Aid Certificate. You will have a flexible and constructive working style and a commitment to continually improving performance.
