Position Overview
The University of Calgary’s Bookstore is currently seeking a Full-time Regular Clothing and GM Buyer.
The Clothing and General Merchandise Buyer position reports directly to bookstore management, and can receive direction from any Bookstore Supervisor to ensure exceptional customer service is provided to clients. This position has time sensitive processes: ordering, seasonal peak periods & bookstore rush periods in September and January. Judgment and decision-making impacts financial outcome of the department. This position has a high-volume workload during peak times of the year and at fiscal year-end. Continual change in the industry and process and a busy work environment with frequent interruptions are normal. Overtime and off campus work may be needed, and participation in the year-end inventory is required.
The primary purpose of this position is to work with the buying team to ensure the smooth operation of the general merchandise and clothing sections of the bookstore. This includes purchasing, receiving, pricing, and displaying and promotions for all product in the clothing and general merchandise area of the store following the Bookstore’s procedures. This position coordinates the day- to-day activities within the clothing, GM & gifts, including in-scope direction of part-time student staff. Additionally, this position is expected to work as an integral member of the bookstore team, and assist with all other team tasks as required.
