The Henry Royce Institute (Royce) is an EPSRC-funded national institute. With its Hub at The University of Manchester, the Institute has spokes at ten Partner and Associate organisations: the Universities of Sheffield, Leeds, Liverpool, Cambridge, Cranfield, Strathclyde, Oxford and Imperial College London, as well as at the UK Atomic Energy Authority and National Nuclear Laboratory. Royce, driven by a vision of ‘advanced materials for a sustainable society’, supports the UK in growing its world-leading research and innovation in advanced materials.
This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Impact Officer to lead the overall evaluation of the Institute’s impact strategies. Operating across the Institute, the post holder will work with the Partners on the identification of successful outcomes, milestones and targets for each of the Royce strategic objectives and associated activities, and integrate a process to monitor and track progress towards the desired outcomes. The post holder will also be responsible for regular reporting on progress to key governance committees and assist in responding to external accountability requirements.
As a part of the wider Royce’s Research and Business Engagement team, the Impact Officer will contribute to the development, planning and implementation of impact strategies, articulate research impact and support the writing and evidencing of high quality impact case studies for the Institute.
This is a key role within Royce that requires a highly motivated individual with significant experience of working within a Higher Education Institution or similar organisational environment and a track-record in supporting academic research and identifying, demonstrating and recognising impact. The post holder will have excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret significant amounts of complex information and data and will be a strategic thinker to contribute to the Royce’s impact strategy. Excellent communication skills are also essential to establish effective relationships and build a network of relevant contacts across the University of Manchester and the partner organisations, including academics and Professional Services (PS) colleagues.
As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.
