We are currently seeking a full-time, experienced Business Development Manager for our Ultra Optics Division located in Brooklyn Park, MN. Ultra Optics is the industry leader in premier quality coatings and the equipment used to apply scratch-resistant coating to ophthalmic lenses. This position will be responsible for finding new, non-ophthalmic industry applications for our coating technology. The ideal candidate will have experience researching and penetrating new markets, and isn t afraid of to think outside the box and forge into new territories.

Job Summary

The Business Development Manager is responsible for pursing and developing sales opportunities to maintain and grow Ultra Coating s business in industrial applications outside of the ophthalmic industry, nationally and internationally. Duties include researching potential applications and communicating/educating customers about the value of coated parts in the application as compared to other technologies. The Business Development Manager must demonstrate a professional demeanor, indicate a high level of industry knowledge, and represent the company at trade functions. Travel is required, with the primary emphasis on travel inside the United States.

Position Responsibilities:

• Obtain new business from existing and potential accounts within various non-ophthalmic industries. Identify new market segments and establish targeted plans for new business development.
• Establish and proactively maintain a strong professional relationship with key decision makers and influencers. Maintain business with an assigned territory.
• Work with our technical team to develop coating solutions with and for customers. Close new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations. Achieve sales goals by identifying customer needs to uncover additional opportunities.
• Drive profitable sales expansion with a focus on new accounts and applications. Complete account profiling to assess business potential and product opportunities.
• Establish presentations, market review and regular feedback regarding products and promotions to large groups. Communicate with management, peers and co-workers to maximize available resources.

Experience/Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 5 years of successful sales related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience commensurate with the position requirements.
• Ability to successfully create and execute focused sales strategy in new markets. Previous business to business sales experience preferred.
• Ability to travel up to 30%. Overnight travel required, including occasional weekends for conventions, meetings, and continuing education.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver s license, with insurable driving record that complies with the Walman Optical Company Motor Vehicle Policy.
• Professional communication skills are required; public speaking, listening, verbal and written proficiency. Position also requires creativity, flexibility, and time management skills.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
