Summary:
Division: Unity Lab Services, part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, provides critical on-site instrument services at customer locations. Our colleagues are passionate about improving customer experience and service operations efficiency. The primary territory is Austin, and Central Texas. The FSE will also support neighboring FSEs in San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas. A fleet vehicle is provided to the Field Service Engineer to allow for travel to multiple customers in the defined service area. Overnight travel will be expected weekly by the Field Service Engineer, with an average of 1 to 2 nights away from home.
You have the opportunity to manage various aspects of field service support and customer relationships within our Laboratory Essentials (LE). In addition, you will provide complete services on laboratory equipment, including repairs, preventative maintenance, installation, and compliance services, while being an advocate for Thermo Fisher Scientific.

What you’ll do:
Repair, install, and maintain a variety of laboratory equipment products including incubators, centrifuges, cold storage (refrigerators and freezers), and other equipment as needed
Schedules and completes detailed preventative maintenance and corrective service to ensure peak uptime of customer equipment
Provide onsite service training to Biomedical Engineering Technicians (BMET) or advanced operators
Submit expenses and manage trunk stock inventory in a timely and accurate manner
Document daily service actions through the company work order database
Maintains courteous and knowledgeable communication with customers to ensure alignment of all aspects of the service events (status, cost, scheduling, etc.)
How will you get there?
Education
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Associate degree in Electronics or Engineering field preferred
EPA Certification preferred
Experience
A minimum of 1 year of experience in field service, Depot repair, manufacturing facilities or equivalent, servicing medical devices or laboratory equipment, etc.
Strong electronic/electrical and mechanical background preferred, refrigeration experience a plus
Experience working with basic test equipment such as DMM, tachometer, temperature devices, etc. Hands-on Refrigeration experience preferred
Ability to operate computers, smartphones, and related software efficiently
Effective interpersonal skills; ability to prioritize multiple tasks with minimal direction
Ability to work independently diagnosing and solving using schematics, diagrams, service manuals, and other technical resources

Ability to lift 50 lbs with assistance, and carry 25-30 Lbs. continuously throughout the day
