Safety Supervisor (Windsor, CT)
POSITION SUMMARYThe Health & Safety Supervisor is responsible for the health and safety program at the TLD Windsor facility. This includes planning, coordinating, and conducting training programs in occupational safety and health, as it relates to loss control and accident prevention, and to drive continuous improvement in our safety program.COMPETENCIES:•The ability to work hard, to complete multiple challenging tasks/projects within agreed time frames and with the appropriate level of critical thinking and quality. Optimizing purchasing actions and material flow to achieve quality, inventory and cost targets by leveraging the supply base through regular negotiation and expansion.•A commitment to be your best self every day; to taking responsibility for your actions; to taking a positive approach towards your coworkers, our challenges and our failures, to pushing yourself and your coworkers for results.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:(Other duties may be assigned)•Researches federal, state, and local standards and regulations relating to health and safety issues. Acts in an advisory capacity to the organization on regulatory compliance matters.•Investigates accidents, finds root cause, and analyzes accident data to determine corrective action and evaluate the effectiveness of accident prevention. Initiates and follows the claims process with insurers to ensure a timely resolution of all open claims. Implement post-injury follow up procedures for workers.•Compiles and presents statistics for internal use and external groups such as OSHA, etc.•Organizes semi-annual factory inspections with outside agencies.•Works with employees and supervisors to ensure standard tools and equipment minimize risks to employee health and safety.•Leads the company’s Safety Committee as chairman.•Conducts safety orientation for all new hires.•Other assignments as designated by supervisor.OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:•CIT: establish standards and procedures for continuous improvement.•Maintain the currency with respect to technical and supervisory skills by attending training classes, special technical and administration courses; seminars, exhibits and trade shows are needed.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.•Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills•Ability to handle dynamic situations, facilitation skills are a plus.•Strong experience with Microsoft Office SuitAbility to prepare and enforce policies to help established health and safety cultureEDUCATION:•Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or Industrial Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and or experience.
