Top Energy has operations throughout the Far North. The Company is privately owned by a power consumer trust and employs staff in Geothermal Generation and Distribution Lines operations. It is an exciting time to join us, with electricity having an increasingly critical role to play, as we electrify the country and move to a low carbon future.

We are looking for a strong team player, who will be instrumental in supporting the General Manager Finance in providing high quality and effective Company Secretarial and legal support to the Groups’ boards and their committees. This will be achieved by ensuring meetings are effectively organised and recorded to a standard that upholds the legal requirements of governing documents.

The Assistant Company Secretary role is a part-time (minimum 3 days a week) permanent position, based in Kerikeri, and reports to the General Manager Finance.

Your key areas of focus will be dynamic, including:

• Managing Group, subsidiary board, committee and trust meeting processes, including attendance and drafting of all minutes, then tracking to completion any actions arising from recorded meetings
• Maintaining records and documentation associated with the board, committee and trust
• Preparation of information and documentation associated with governance requirements
• Providing efficient legal support relative to property easement and caveat acquisition, legislative compliance and ad hoc projects
• Contribution to internal Company Secretariat processes and documentation

As it is a newly created role, there is flexibility around the structure of the role and the days worked. We are keen to talk to people that believe they can add value to the business and may also have other skills which could compliment the role.

To succeed in this role, it is essential that you will be tertiary educated in Finance or Law, preferably with at least two years’ experience in a similar role for a medium to large organisation or from a role which means you have transferable skills which can be applied to this role. You will be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and have experience with OneDrive and PDF use. Having knowledge of the Companies, Fair Trading, Consumer Guarantees, Commerce and Trust Acts is a must.
