Our opportunity

Our Solutions Development Team focuses on the development of embedded, server and cloud workflow software for integration into Toshiba products and systems across the globe. We have an opportunity for a Software Engineer in our North Ryde Office, reporting to the Section Manager. The primary purpose of this position is to define & analyse development opportunities, understand user requirements, determine & implement solutions using a broad range of technologies & tools, seek possible improvements, and maintain existing products.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Solutions Development Team in the shaping and designing of the next generation of architecture, features and document management related client software tools;
• Participate in product level code implementation for equipment firmware;
• Participate in defect triage, repair, and test activities;
• Constantly seek possible improvements of functionalities and performance by thinking creatively;
• Communicate with managers and teams to define new solutions, feasible schedules, milestones, and take the challenge of innovating new technologies.
• Participate in a broader team to prototype, design, implement, and support new technologies that enhance the value of Toshiba products.

Our requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to demonstrate excellent attention to detail, time management and communication skills as well as a commitment to teamwork and customer service.

• Degree qualified (BE / BSc (Computing) or B Computer Science) or equivalent
• Excellent programming skills in some or all of C, C++, C++11 and Python
• Development skills in Linux OS environments. Windows and MacOS skills are advantageous.
• Skills in Cloud Architecture knowledge is advantageous.
• Experience in Portable Document Format (PDF) specification.
• Experience in multi-threading programming models.
• Good code analysis and debugging skills of complex code.
• Strong analytical and lateral thinking skills to challenge existing software architecture
