Teaching Assistant for the Vision Impaired

SANZA Teaching Agency is currently working with a Special Educational Needs School currently looking for a Teaching Assistant with experience working with students who are Vision Impaired. The Teaching Assistant role is due to start in April 2021 and will continue until July 2022 on long term basis. The daily rate for the Teaching Assistant (Hearing Impaired) is £75 – £85 per day.

This Special Educational Needs school is based in the borough of Wandsworth with exceptional link to transport and parking available on site. This is a specialist deafblind provision that offers comprehensive education to children and young people from age 2-19 across all curriculum pathways in school. This school incorporates a total communication approach where any and all means of communication that works best for each student is supported which may include any or all of the following: sign, spoken language, written language, braille, pictures, objects, gestures, and low or high tech augmentative communication systems.

As a Teaching Assistant within the specialist deafblind provision, you will be working with a team of Teachers, Therapists, Intervenors and Support Staff to ensure each students receives the best education and care available.

To be short listed for the role as a Teaching Assistant working with students with Vision Impairment, you need to:

• Prior experience working with students diagnosed with Vision Impairment
• Proven track knowledge in working with a variety of communication means including braille and sign language
• Have the desire to make an impact with every student you work with

• Have a great sense of humor and be able to work interpedently or part of a team
