The opportunity

We have a new opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer, a permanent full time role within the Digital Transformation team. The role delivers working and reliable data and software and platform components, continuously developing and assessing systems to keep abreast of new technologies and applying this knowledge to new and existing related systems to meet organisational objectives.

The role is looking for someone to:

• Provide full stack expertise and develop solutions to ship complex products, self-direct according to business needs, work across various groups, and improve team productivity to meet delivery objectives
• Recommend and deliver modern technologies to uplift user experience and enhance technical aspects of the product
• Demonstrate ownership and accountability for solution design and deliver green field projects
• Define and implement software development standards and practices to improve productivity
• Analyse and evaluate both functional and non-functional user requirements to convert and create quality products
• Mentor, guide, and collaborate with other Software Engineers
• Participate in collaboration workshops to discuss projects, brainstorm ideas, and put forward solutions to any issues
• Influence and deliver quality software by conducting peer reviews, debugging and testing, using suitable tools for diagnosing and rectifying issues, and support application software releases and development updates to guarantee performance, functionality and reliability objectives are met.

About you

To be successful in the role, you will have appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated, relevant professional experience. Below lists the key knowledge and experience needed in this role in regards to the tools / languages / apps / security / infrastructure used in the team:

What we expect you to have knowledge or experience in:

• JavaScript
• NodeJS
• React
• AWS Cloud Services – Lambda, API Gateway, AWS RDS PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, S3, etc.; emphasis on main services from Serverless Stack
• REST API
• PostgreSQL
• Git

In addition to above, what we would like you to preferably have knowledge or experience in as well:

• React (and accompanying technologies like React Router, Formik, Redux)
• ExpressJS
• Serverless Framework
• Bitbucket
• Jira
• Visual Studio Code
• React Native (mobile development)

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is TfNSW Grade 9 ($138,670.00 – $155,309.00) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
