Tribe Recruitment Looking for General Manager – New Zealand at Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand Full Time

Our client is a high growth international consumer goods business, likely to have significant private equity investment in early 2024. The business has a portfolio of market leading products, and operations in NZ, the US, Australia and the UK.

About The Role

The primary purpose of the position is to provide leadership and oversight of the established New Zealand operation, as well as Australia (high growth market), working collaboratively with the Board of Directors as a valued member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

The New Zealand GM will focus on achieving sustainable business growth and profitability, helping shape the strategy in conjunction with the Board to deliver on retail, wholesale and e-commerce opportunities.

Role

The primary focus of this role will be to maximise shareholder value. This includes leadership and responsibility for the following areas:

• • Marketing,
  • Retail / Sales
  • E-commerce.

There will also be a dotted line oversight for Production which is managed by a long-serving NZ Production Manager.

About You

• A strong generalist, who has worked as a Managing Director / General Manager with a minimum of five years of experience in a leadership role
• Proven track record of driving growth, profitability, and market share in a consumer products / retail environment.
• You will likely have a Sales & Marketing background, with an understanding of retail, wholesale and e-commerce businesses.
• Experience working in a high growth scale-up and with private equity stakeholders is a plus.
• Exceptional leadership, team management and presentational skills, with experience in building and leading high-performance teams and building relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders.
• Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• You’ll be a visible and hands-on leader who is willing to roll up your sleeves, working closely with the team and actively participating in the growth and improvement of the business.
• Experience of working in an international group and knowledge of the Australian market will be an advantage.
