Position Summary/Objective
The Design Consultant is responsible for working independently and in collaboration with the sales force to sell foodservice design services to customers, create unique design concepts that meet the operational and visual needs of our customers, and developing technical documents for construction coordination and bidding.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Meet with potential customers to review their unique foodservice equipment design needs and promote the benefits of Trimark’s various design services
• Determine size/scope of a project and identify appropriate foodservice equipment needs through effective discourse with customer. Make equipment recommendations based on industry knowledge and experience
• Must exercise good judgement to independently create foodservice equipment designs that efficiently utilize available floor space and effectively meet the customer’s operational and budgetary needs
• Utilize industry knowledge to create construction documents in AutoCad and Revit with appropriate level of detail to submit to trades and manufacturers for construction purposes
• Must have sound understanding of plumbing and electrical requirements for foodservice industry and be able to exercise good judgement in allocating utility services and building conditions necessary for proper installation of equipment
• Utilize effective communication with architects and engineers for the proper integration of foodservice equipment designs into building footprint and allocation of available building services with equipment needs
• Must be able to proactively communicate and manage lead times and establish drawing deadlines with customers, architects, contractors, etc. It is essential that project needs are met timely
• Must have ability to recommend manufacture specifications that are appropriate to a project; complete with all options and accessories, giving priority to TriMark’s preferred vendors
• Effectively communicate with foodservice equipment manufacturers to drive the development of shop drawings for custom or modified equipment related to a design
• Prepare foodservice equipment budgets utilizing available information
• Attend design and scope review meetings as required
• Review and approve submittal packages provided by kitchen equipment contractor to ensure adherence to design intent
• Be an industry leader in advancing the latest technology and design ideas
• Respond to requests for information (RFI’s) in a timely manor
• Conduct site visits and generate a punch list during project installation
• Conduct oneself in a professional manner that fosters positive relations with customers, vendors, and internal company personnel
• Grow design revenue yearly
• Attend department meetings and vendor training sessions
• Other duties as assigned by Manager

Competencies, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to work independently and exercise good judgement in all aspects of position
• Ability to create effective commercial designs operating within loose or limited sets of constraints
• Extensive knowledge of BIM practices, standards and techniques
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written
• Flexible in schedule to enable the company to meet customer needs – overtime and weekends may be necessary and required
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office products & AutoQuotes
• Foster positive relations and communications with departmental personnel, IT, Purchasing, Installers, Sales, Marketing, and other TriMark Division design/contract management departments
• Strong relationship building skills with customers, general contractors, architects, manufacturers and vendors, and other trades on job sites
• Strong organizational skills

• Ability to read architectural drawings
• Basic working knowledge of general construction, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing

Preferred

• Proficient Adobe Photoshop and Navisworks

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, or related discipline
• Must complete CFSP Test within first 3 years of employment
• 3-5 years’ experience designing in the foodservice industry
• Experienced in various market segments of design

Preferred

• CFSP or FSCI Certification

Background

• Ability to successfully pass a background check
• May be asked to perform a drug test for specific positions
• Must be a legal citizen or otherwise permitted to legally work in the US without sponsorship
