Twenty Seven Steps is an upmarket, busy bistro that has been serving classic yet innovative complete meals since 2015. Downstairs is a wine ‘pub,’ with a mixture of ‘Christchurch tapas” (including chips) and small, interesting plates of well sourced food. Both have a focus on delicious wines, classic cocktails and craft beer. Excellent service is at the core of what we do.
Are we looking for you? We always hire the person, not the role and we need some talented leaders to join us on our mission. Primarily we are looking for a Restaurant Manager and a Bar Manager, we are open to an overall GM or a duty manager also.
We need a Restaurant Manager for Twenty Seven Steps – this job has come up rarely in the last 8 years we’ve traded. You are the face of our team. Someone who leads from the front, looks after customers and staff alike, hustles the tables, anticipates needs and truly understands a good night’s service. Knowledge around spirits and wine are essential and relationships with suppliers are important. Clear communication and experience are essential along with a valid DM Cert and a passion for wine. You are here for solutions, not problems and have an understanding of budgets. You have a strong admin & functions support. Posbiz & Loaded knowledge is an advantage. Again, service is the focus. Hours are 3ish to 10pm – 1amish Tuesday to Saturday nights.
Overall Bar Manager for both venues – Twenty Seven is mostly a dispense bar with 30 glass pours and classic cocktails. Downstairs is a long-seated bar, good chat is needed. 40+ everchanging glass pours plus classic cocktails & craft beers. Both bars have polish free glass washers – always a bonus. There is a huge focus on wines, both local and international. You are keeping our beverage option fresh, interesting, properly costed and current. While managing the logistics between the two bars, you will be keeping up the standards/training the bar team (currently 3 humans) and leading the service standard on the floor in this predominantly customer facing role.
And tis the season – we are busy and picking up further, with floor staff, you must love the hustle, know what you’re selling and understand the true meaning of hospitality – looking after people. Part time / fulltime – we can make it work for you.
