    Duties

    This position serves as an IT Specialist (APPSW) within National Environmental Satellite Data and Information Services (NESDIS) Office of Satellite Ground Services (OSGS). Some of your specific duties will include:

    • Oversees consistency in application development and integration of common data management functionality into enterprise IT capabilities and cloud-based services
    • Leads software development activities for the organization, establishing standards and applying Agile and cloud services best practices across the Software Development Life Cycle of IT systems.
    • Communicates to senior management and engages with IT systems and software development project managers demonstrating expert skill in IT systems, cloud and architecture, influencing technical decisions, development process, and best practices.
    • Establishes an exceptional understanding of the organization’s mission and operational/scientific requirements to ensure that data management software applications provide cost effective, secure, and necessary functionality.
