UCLA Health Hiring for Laboratory Assistant I – Physiology at Los Angeles, CA Full Time

REQUIRED:

• Working knowledge of solution chemistry to allow preparation of media, stock solutions, and buffers.
• Ability to use computers to accurately enter data.
• Knowledge of accepted/approved procedures in working with bacteria and cell lines.
• Demonstrated writing skills for generation of basic laboratory protocols and to insure acceptable record/data keeping.
• Ability to follow instructions and protocols to perform assignments with minimal supervision.
• Reading skills sufficient to understand journal articles and scientific protocols.
• Knowledge of sterile culture techniques.
• Previous experience in research lab setting.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and to understand and carry out verbal instructions. Skill in communicating clearly and effectively to receive and convey information accurately and in a professional manner.
• Demonstrated ability to work as member of team.

Preferred

• Skill in laboratory safety protocols including proper handling of biohazardous substances, including chemicals.
• Skill in use of specialized lab equipment (PCR, autoclave, pH meters, centrifuges, HPLCs, etc.).
• Demonstrated ability to perform/detailed or complicated lab procedures, sometimes requiring delicate manual or manipulative skills.
