As the Patient Access Manager at Santa Monica Hospital, you will be responsible for:
Planning, organizing, and managing daily operations for the Admissions and Registration department at all UCLA Health System hospitals.
Directing the financial management for pre-service, inpatient, and partial psychiatric programs to provide deposit quotes for service, and for the negotiation of case specific special reimbursement, credit verification assessment and approval, and discharge control.
Supervising all employees within unit, 24-hours a day/ 7-days a week.
Participating in the budgeting and oversee cashiering functions.
Evaluating ongoing policy and procedure development and implement best practice.
Qualifications
We are seeking a self-directed, interpersonal professional with:
Supervisory experience, preferably in a healthcare setting
Working knowledge of pre-admit and concurrent review billing requirements to include: authorizations, TARS, and certificates
Knowledge of third-party payers including commercial, HMOs, PPOs, EPOs, Capitation, and Worker’s Compensation
Demonstrated knowledge of Federal (Medicare) and State (Medi-Cal) regulations and ability to assist patients/staff in understanding insurance benefits
Working knowledge of commercial insurance legislative history, principles and practices
Working knowledge of health plans with special processing requirements for emergency patients and ability to effectively communicate these requirements to physicians and administrative personnel under time urgent conditions
Working knowledge in the fundamentals of financial analysis, basic credit principles and collection methods
Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations, practices or procedures in order to define the problem/objective; identify relevant concerns/factors; identify patterns, tendencies or relationships; formulate logical and objective conclusions; recognize alternatives and their implications
Ability to identify the concerns and take appropriate actions regarding patients presenting with a wide range of human behavior including fear, hostility, non-cooperation and frustration
Skill in verbal and written communication with ability to convey information to individuals within different organizational levels
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including rotating weekends and holidays
