Purpose of the Position
The Director of Student Finance will be responsible for managing a team of managers and 40-80 financial aid advisors, team leaders, and managers
UMA is a nonprofit healthcare educational institution with a national presence. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida and founded in 1994, UMA offers content-rich, interactive online programs as well as hands-on training at our Clearwater, Florida campus.
Anticipated starting salary of $75,000; pay rate negotiable based on experience and qualifications

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Develop annual departmental plan for strategic and short-term objectives, and design a weekly, monthly, and quarterly list of priorities to measure performance.
Monitor operations to ensure practices are in compliance with all federal, state, accreditation and corporate regulations.
Ensure that areas of non-compliance are addressed and resolved in a timely manner and appropriate training is implemented to ensure compliance.
Determine training requirements to effectively administer the student finance advising function.
Communicates objectives, coordinates activities, directs personnel actions, including classification, recruiting, new hire actions, interviewing and selecting new staff, staff reviews, and salary determinations.
Prepare and deliver thorough staff performance evaluations and provide abundant recognition for employees performing well.
Emphasize the importance of student retention and show rates.
Ensure complex system processes are working properly and correct any system errors found. Determine workflow and ensure it is being met.
Serve as liaison between Admissions, Operations and the Student Finance Office. Provide information and technical direction to correct student system errors, situations or concerns.
Answers staff and student questions regarding financial aid matters and resolve financial aid problems
Compliance:
Demonstrates knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the Department of Education, accrediting agencies, CIE, and internal UMA policies and procedures.
Effectively communicates compliance requirements to students and other staff as appropriate and quickly escalates any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.
Education/Experience
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
Minimum of 1 year in a Management position.
Working knowledge of Title IV regulations required.
Working Environment:
This is a full-time remote position
Ability to travel as required – up to 25% travel
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Physical Demands:
Requires long periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer
Requires ability to travel
Requires occasional bending, stooping and squatting
Requires occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
