Unijobs on behalf of the University of Limerick School of Medicine have an ongoing requirement for actors to assist in the training and evaluation of medical students (simulated patient).

Immediate requirement:

There is an immediate requirement for 3 male actors aged 50-65 to be available on site from 08:15 to 16:45 on Wednesday April 27th. The rate of pay for this role will be €25 per hour and reasonable reimbursement of travel expenses incurred will also be covered.

Responsibilities:

• To portray a patient in an accurate and standardised way.
• To communicate with students in a straightforward and positive way.
• Maintain a positive attitude and work well with students, staff, and SP colleagues.
• Maintain the confidentiality of the students.

Experience:

• Acting training/experience is required for successful application.

What is a Simulated Patient?

The simulated patient engages in the selection, training and evaluation of medical students. A simulated patient is a person who has been coached to accurately recreate the history, personality, physical findings and emotional structure and responses of an actual patient at a given point in time. Simulated patients are interviewed and examined by medical students, just as you would be by a doctor. You may see several students on a one-to-one basis during selection interviews and student examinations, or there may be a group of students working with you in a controlled teaching session.
