Unijobs on behalf of our public sector client, The Health Service Executive, are currently recruiting for the position of Ward Clerk, this post is at Grade III level, based in Portlaoise. This role will consist of 37 hours. This role will initially be running on a month-to-month basis. The hourly rate of pay is €13.00. The successful candidate must be available to start immediately.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

This post encompasses administrative responsibilities which include, but is not limited to the following:

• Responsible for charts for inpatients; filing all patient documentation into the charts and making sure all the paperwork for the wards are kept stocked, therefore, ensuring the efficient day-to-day administration of this area of responsibility.
• Ensure that deadlines are met, and service levels maintained.

• Excellent administration and organisation skills and the ability to multitask.
• Excellent typing, written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.

• Maintain confidentiality of documentation, records, etc.
• Maximise the use of technology in ensuring work is completed to a high standard.

• Ability to work on own initiative.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage time efficiently.
• A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proven ability to work as part of a team.

• Perform general administrative tasks as required by the employer.

Key Accountabilities:

• Assist with day-to-day operations of a fast paced and changing environment.
• Delivering an efficient service.
• Provide clerical and administrative support to the senior administrator and assist the Manager, if and when required.
• Ensuring accuracy while dealing with high volumes of important administration and often-sensitive documentation.
• Deal with a high volume of queries over the phone and via email.

• Ensure that service users are treated with dignity and respect.

• Scanning/filing of documents.
