Airport Operations
The Airport Operations department keeps operations at our airports running smoothly through planning, organization and supervision.
Job overview and responsibilities
The Supervisor – Operations Control provides support to the Operations Control Managers in supervising arrival and departure processes across an area of United’s airport operation (multiple pods of gates), communicating with internal stakeholders, and supporting United’s core4 values through critical decision-making.
Identify and address flight-level issues/exceptions related to baggage processes, customer boarding, fueling, catering, tech ops, and general aircraft servicing utilizing SOC tools
Identify irregularities such as weight restrictions, ATC/WX issues, medical emergencies, major/minor flight alerts, and staffing issues and work with the Operations Control Manager to resolve
Coordinate, communicate, and partner with team members across United’s operation via phone, radio, and messaging services to escalate and resolve critical issues
Work with all stakeholders to ensure accurate flight following (FLIFO) information is maintained
Document notable issues with operational performance as required
Identify changes required to improve future operational performance
Develop and support standard work and continuous improvement processes
Required
Bachelor’s degree and/or related field experience in an airline operational environment
Proven track record in roles requiring decisive action backed by strategic planning, continuous improvement, analytical problem-solving, goal-directed leadership and service-oriented performance
Passion for the airline industry and airline operations
Ability to work in harmony with other team members across the organization to create a collaborative work environment
Curiosity about all aspects of airline operations and willingness to develop new skills and knowledge
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Basic skills with Microsoft Excel
Assume responsibilities of the Manager – Operations Control when assigned
Must be flexible and possess the ability to work any shift within a 24 hour/day, 7 day/week operation including nights, weekends and holidays as needed
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
Preferred
Management experience in airline operations
Knowledge of operations, management, and logistics principles
