This role is based within Optum Insight. Optum is the technology and services division of UnitedHealth Group, the leading international health insurer. Our team is known as Analytics – and the primary function of our team is to build machine learning solutions and put them into production.

We have created an exciting new Analytics Development Programme targeting recent graduates. In this programme you will get to work shoulder to shoulder with experienced data scientists, engineers, and business intelligence developers to make a significant impact in healthcare. As well as real world projects with real world impact, our graduate programme includes an immersive training curriculum to bring graduates up to speed with the latest analytics techniques and technologies, while also learning about the US healthcare system.

Our programme has four strands:

• Data Science – focus on building machine learning models to solve business problems
• Analytics Engineering – focus on building the infrastructure to get machine learning models into production
• Consultancy – focus on working between our business partners and the data science and analytic engineering team
• Business Intelligence Reporting – focus on preparing and analysing data to find and share actionable insights via data visualisation to improve decisions and business performance.

Key information regarding this program:

• This full-time position will be available starting in September 2022
• Coursework to obtain degree must be completed prior to start of employment
• Degree must be awarded and verified within 6-8 weeks following the commencement date at your school

Required Qualifications:

• Currently in final year of obtaining a PhD/Master’s/Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University
• Degree in any Science, Engineering, Mathematics or other related fields with an analytics component
• Please note you must currently be eligible to work and remain indefinitely without any restrictions in the country to which you are making an application. Proof will be required to support your application

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing
• Experience with python programming language
• Experience with Data Discovery and Visualization tools e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, Business Objects, MicroStrategy, D3/Javascript Visualization
• Demonstrated ability to apply Data Visualization best practices and techniques during Data Analysis knowledge of relational databases and database structures E.g.Normal Forms, Kimball

  • Ability to effectively communicate with project stakeholders
